The Gift Wrap and the Jewel

The Gift Wrap and the Jewel

                      by  Wanda b Goines

I looked in the mirror and what did I see?

But a little old lady peering back at me

With bags and sags and wrinkles and wispy white hair

And I asked my reflection, how did you get there?

You once were straight and vigorous

And now you’re stooped and weak

When I tried so hard to keep you from becoming an antique

My reflection’s eyes twinkled and she solemnly replied

You’re looking at the gift wrap and not the jewel inside

A living gem and precious of imagined worth

Unique and true, the real you, the only you on earth

The years that spoil your gift wrap with other things more cruel

Should purify and strengthen and polish up that jewel

So focus your attention on the inside, not the out

On being kinder, wiser, more content and more devout

Then when your gift wrap’s stripped away

Your jewel will be set free, to radiate God’s glory throughout eternity!

Where Are You? By Adrienne Morris

God is calling

He's calling your name

He's saying where are you

For He does not change.

No matter how far

You've wandered away

His voice is saying

Come close this day.

Don't hide from Me

Because of that shame

For I love you child

And I've taken the blame.

Oh how my heart

It yearns for you

For us to be together

Just we two.

My grace abounds

To cover that sin

I stand at your door

Will you let me in?

There's a place at my table

Reserved just for you

And a warm welcome awaits you

To begin life anew.

Poems from Margi Tawhai

Had a funny thought today
Mused about how long Id stay
Maybe ten or fifteen more if Im blessed
Could be more or even less
What can I do to make that time
A blessing for family and friends of mine .

I thought i would add this poem written when i was visiting patients in the community  but I think it applies even more today .

All is changing not the same
nothing constant , what remains
Job today gone tomorrow
Faces lined with fear and sorrow

Doors are closing down the street
some people search but some retreat
Behind a wall of sheer despair
wondering if their mind will bear
Daylong nigh mare,
Nothing to do
nowhere to go ,
Welfare relief too small
Too slow,
Ends wont meet, the gap grows bigger
Anger, rage,
On an unstable hair trigger

Faces despairing stare from the door
Emotions displayed
Bitter and raw
Wheres the solution ?
He came once Before .

The Merry Go Round.

Do you feel like sometimes,
Do you feel like this,
That life is like a merry-go-round

It's so hard to get off
The wheels go round and round
I'd like so much to stop it
Get my feet on solid ground.

The Lord says:

Let Me heal you deep inside,
Let Me love you
Please don't hide.

Let Me take the pain away,
My Name is ointment,
My Name is ointment,
And we can cause the scars to fade.

And you're A Okay and doing fine
You're A Okay and doing fine
You're A Okay and doing fine
Says the Lord.

Come, come close
Come, come close
Come, come close
Says the Lord!!

The Pleasure of your Company.

Can I come to your house

And have a cup of tea

Just the two of us together

I so enjoy your company.

My ear is so attentive

To what you have to say

I will not be offended

And will not back away.

Don't think you cannot tell me

Take off that cloak of shame

I'm the One who loves you

Jesus is My Name.

I too have things upon My heart

I want to share with you

Can we dialogue together

For that is what friends do.

No barriers exist here

The world around shut out

Just a perfect communion

Which transcends all fear and doubt.

I await My child

For your reply

May it be a joyful yes!

This invitation comes with love

For you I want the best.

Let Me, My child enjoy you

There's none to take your place

You and I alone together

Let Me see your lovely face.
