Living with the Holy Spirit
The power of the Holy Spirit is as alive in the world today as He was from the first day when He hovered over the waters [Genesis 1:2] so we have what we have today, a heaven and earth that shows the full glory of the God almighty. [Psalm 29:3] This is the same power we have been given when we surrender to the King of kings and are born of water and the Spirit and are born again into a world of promise, a promise confirmed on the cross nearly two thousand years ago.
This was the Biblical day of when the giving of the teachings of God were given to the people, [Exodus 34:29] a lost people, who had been slaves for over four hundred years. [Genesis 15:13] They were finally given their freedom and after nearly three months of wandering, [Exodus 19:1] going from one crisis to another. And turning their backs on the only One who could lead them to the promised land many times since they left their bondage in Egypt. And now, God was still going to give them rules to live by in regards to Him and to their Israelite brothers and sisters.
Many years later the power from on high fell on the people and the World changed forever. [Acts 2:1-4] These men were just people, men that wrote this truth for us to know and took the first steps of taking the message to the world. Through the fruit of the Spirit and through the gifts of the Spirit this power changed lives, lives lost in sin or injury or disease or any other problem.
Now once more many centuries later the Jewish people will gather to celebrate that event. They will read many scriptures and gather at the Western Wall to pray to the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There they will remember where their ancestors came from and the journey their people have made in this world to finally arrive in Jerusalem by the truth of the Word.
The promise was given that the power of the Holy Spirit would be there for those still to come. [Acts 2:39] He is still here changing lives. We who are here now can call on this power to receive the gifts He is ready to bestow on us. As in the days of the Disciples we too can have the victory they had in over- coming the things of the world, Victory over the very things Yeshua said He came to give, “I have come to make the lame walk and the blind to see”. [Luke 4:18]
There are many ways in which we can be blind. Of course there is a physical blindness which either occurred at birth or through an accident. But either way there has been recorded cases where such people have had their sight restored. [Matthew 9:30] However there is a spiritual blindness, which in some ways can be worse. This blindness can keep us far from the promises of God and the knowledge of His love. As Paul had the scales removed from His eyes when he encountered Yeshua, [Acts 9:18] we too can have the scales removed from our eyes. Paul knew God, or he thought he did, but he had a form of godliness but his heart was far from Him. [Isaiah 29:13] This spiritual blindness can be removed from all, both young and old, by simply surrendering to Yeshua and to the Power that is from above. [Luke 24:49]
Yeshua also said He had come to make the lame walk; again this can be a physical lameness, but we can all be lame when we are not walking with the Lord. We can trip and fall and stumble our way through life from one crisis to another. After a while the loads of the worldly things we encounter can bring us to a breaking point, not being able to move out of ourselves. With the Power of the Holy Spirit teaching us all things, [John 14:26] our spiritual eyes will be opened so we will see and understand such statements as:
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28-30]
As the Word tells us, there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, the Holy Spirit. Plus there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all people who are open to Him. [1 Corinthians 12:4-11] But the Holy Spirit is given for the common good to build up and not to pull down. [2 Corinthians 10:8]
Gift of Knowledge; something we need to learn from experience.
Gift of Wisdom; a gift of knowing how to apply the knowledge learnt.
Gift of Faith; to believe in something un-seen.
Gift of healing; in all its forms.
Gift of the working of miracles wherever we may see them.
Gift of prophecy; to help guide and protect and to be fore warned.
Gift of Discernment of spirits, to follow the correct path. [1 John 4:1-6]
Gift of tongues, to speak in a heavenly language to our Father in heaven or as once occurred to myself, understanding briefly a foreign language to be given a message from the Lord.
The gift of interpretation of tongues, which is required to fulfill the word received. [1 Corinthians 14:13] Then we have Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and teachers.
The one thing we know that in all of this there is but One and the same Spirit working all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. Working to ensure the teachings that Yeshua brought to the earth, [John 10:10] are passed on to each new generation.
So as we go into the Biblical time of the Feast of weeks [Leviticus 23:15-16] or as it is known, Shavuot or in English, Pentecost. It is our turn to stand and give thanks for the knowledge, wisdom and faith and much more, we have received from the Lord. It is time to pass this knowledge on to the next generation so they will know the Holy Spirit came to teach them all things. [Isaiah 2:3]
Then they will know that in His teaching we can have our eyes opened to see the beauty of God. We can have our hearts changed to accept the wonders of God and we can then have fresh legs to walk in the power of God. Then and only then when we are born of the water and the Spirit, according to Yeshua Himself, will we be able to see the Kingdom of God.
Now there was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews; this man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You have come from God as a teacher; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7“Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ “The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” [John 1:1-8]
