Living the Truth of the Word

It is time to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth; [John 4:24] yes it is time to put the world behind us and to follow in the footsteps of the Lord. The people of the world have turned their backs on the One who created them, gave them life and the promise of eternal life. It is time to decide whom we should follow, [Joshua 24:15] the world or the Creator of the world and all that is in it. [Psalm 24:1]

         We have learnt about the fruits of the spirit and the gifts of the spirit. I believe it is time to put them into practice for the good of the Kingdom of God and for the calling of the people to the foot of the cross before it is too late. When you might ask is it too late? The answer? When the Lord is standing on the Mount of Olives surveying His Holy City and His Kingdom. [Zechariah 14:1-4]

         The gifts of the spirit are set in place to show the power of God and of how He can overcome all things. The fruits of the spirit are there to show us how we are meant to be the people God wants us to be. They are given so that we here on earth will show the side of God people read about in the Word, but sometimes fail to see in the followers of the Word. Surely as followers of the Word our faces should shine forth the hope we have for the glorious future in store for us. [Romans 8:23] Our lives should reflect what the Word tells us to reflect, the love of God. [2 Thessalonians 3:5] Not in a way that accepts all wrongs as truth but in a way that shows to reverse all wrongs. There is a truth, a truth that can only be found by living the truth of the Word. [Psalm 119:43]

         Yeshua is the only way to salvation [Acts 4:12] but we cannot claim to have this truth if we continue to live ignoring the very teachings of the Word. It is clear to all, if we take a moment, that the world is in trouble as it changes the truth for a lie [Romans 1:25] and claims good is evil and evil is good. [Isaiah 5:20] We are being told today to be more accepting of the sins of society and if we do not then we are the ones in the wrong not them. The truth, the Word of God, has been removed from society and they wonder why sin is on the increase. [Proverbs 29:16] If we stand for the truth we are called all sorts of names to the point people are being placed in jail for speaking against the evil that is sweeping the world.

I am reminded of the book by C. S. Lewis the Screw Tape Letters, where the old devil is telling the young devil that the best way to fool people is to convince the people that they do not exist. A ploy that looks like this statement by Mr. Lewis has been the devil’s guiding statement. There are even people in the church following the idea that there is no hell. But even our Lord and Saviour spoke of such a place. [Matthew 5:22] Do we know more than the Lord Himself?

         Yeshua sent the Holy Spirit to guide us and to warn us in all matters. [John 16:13] It is time to put what we have learnt through the cross into action. That is to continually live out our lives in a way that will reflect that truth to all we meet, being as we are, temples of the Holy Spirit. [1 Corinthians 6:19]

What or who shall the Lord find on His return? People living as in the days of Noah? [Luke 17:26] Or a people taking no notice of the Lord or a people living a life that reflects His glory? [2 Corinthians 3:18]

         It seems the Western Wall was liberated at the time of Shavuot, June 1967. Just one week after the liberation of the Western Wall in Jerusalem, it was opened to the public and over one hundred thousand Jewish people visited that place in one day. On the day the Wall was liberated Non- religious people were quoting scripture. When God moves people react. We have even a greater reason to react, Yeshua on the cross, the reality of God’s love and grace. [Ephesians 3:7] We have the power to react. We have been given the Holy Spirit to give us strength and a purpose to life. [Psalm 46:1] An animal may be born, live and die and has no future other than to live and die, but we, mankind, are born with a longing to know what is beyond and a capacity to know God. In that quest, God has shown us there is a purpose for us on earth to reflect the one in whose image we are made [Genesis 1:27] to live with Him in glory after this life ends. [Colossians 3:4]

         We know the fruits of the Spirit, love, patience, kindness, long suffering etc. and it may seem hard to put them into practice. To put them into practice we just have to remember that they are not our fruits but the fruits of God, all of these are descriptions of God Himself. So all we have to do is to give our lives to Him and be born again in the spirit. [John 3:1-3] We will then be able, according to Yeshua, to do even greater things here on earth than He did. [John 14:12] God is love, [1 John 4:16] God is patient [Psalm 86:15] and God is definitely long suffering. [Nehemiah 9:17] If anybody is struggling then just hook on to the one Yeshua whom God sent for you and me so we could and can have life and a life in all its fullness.

The Biblical Pentecost is this Sunday: enjoy the day knowing that we are no longer orphans lost in a wilderness, but children of God found, restored and saved by the blood of the Lamb once and for all time. [Romans 5:9] It is time to worship our God, Lord and Saviour in spirit and in truth, all in the name of the One who made it possible so long ago on the cross of Calvary.

 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness; According to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity And cleanse me from my sin For I know my transgressions, And my sin is ever before me. Against You, You only, I have sinned And done what is evil in Your sight So that You are justified when You speak And blameless when You judge.Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me. Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom. Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;

Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. Make me to hear joy and gladness, Let the bones which You have broken rejoice. Hide Your face from my sins And blot out all my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, And renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation And sustain me with a willing spirit. Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, And sinners will be converted to You.    Psalm 51:1-13
