Our Security

Security, a small word with such a story to be told within. We all want security and as the world falls further and further into the abyss, we look to the authorities to keep us secure. I remember flying to England in 1986, we arrived at the airport, checked in our bags and boarded the plane. Our only fear was, will the plane make it, or will it crash due to a mechanical fault? There was the man who the Lord told to go to Russia to pray. He arrived at the airport with no ticket and no money to buy one. He prayed and a man walked up to him and said that he could not go as something had come up, would he like his ticket? The man boarded the plane with someone else’s ticket. This was the start of a ministry of prayers by a group of people praying that the Berlin wall would fall. His security was in the Lord the Lord was leading so that was all he needed.

Imagine that happening today? Now we are required to have booked and paid for our tickets weeks before, so we can be vetted by the authorities long before we get anywhere near the plane. Our bags are searched and in America we had to stand in a machine that showed up a notebook in my pocket as a big red blob. People rely on that security to feel safe before they leave the ground. Security is the number one issue in people’s lives to today in many parts of the world.

Then there is the other security people look for and that is in religion. It does not matter what religion as long as they feel safe within it. [Jeremiah 8:11] Take the recent book awards that I received the results of. The finalists were all religions that gave a good happy feeling but when tested gave nothing in return. There is no basis for their teaching. [Psalm 4:2 NIV] Mankind was created with a searching heart that God is hoping will be filled with Him, however people will go anywhere to fill it no matter what. [Matthew 6:32-33] Yoga, the subject of one of the books in the finals is something that Christians should never be involved with. [Psalm 16:4] God said to have no other gods besides me. [Exodus 20:3] Yoga is the worship of thousands of Hindu wooden or stone gods, and yet people bow down to them in every position they take in the yoga exercises. I will defy anybody to tell me they have actually heard a wooden idol speak to them. Yet Christians are flocking to these classes for peace and harmony denying the very security they can have in Yeshua. [Proverbs 3:26]

Another area of the book awards was fortune telling of which the Bible is very clear we should have nothing to do with. [Leviticus 19:26] King Saul went to a witch to find out about his future, nothing good came from it. [1 Chronicles 10:13] The young girl in the Book of Acts 16:16 told futures, but the name of Jesus prayed over her stopped it all, His name was greater. [Acts 16:18] Many of these new age teachings are all about mind control whereas the true God has given us freedom of thought, we can decide to follow Him or not.  [Matthew 11:28] Some young people once told me that they could control this mind control. My question was: how do you control mind control? They had no answer and walked away.

All these teachings are forever changing, what they teach or the name they use is different from what they were called and taught forty years ago and a hundred years ago. Whereas the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’s teachings were the same in the time of Isaiah [Isaiah 40:6-8] as they were two thousand years ago in the time of Yeshua and as they are today. [1 Peter 1:25] The Dead Sea Scrolls provide the perfect security to this truth. What is written in them is exactly what we have in our Bibles today, whereas horoscopes are based on star consolations that are forever changing. What we have today is nothing like they were four thousand years ago. This means there can never be any security in anything that is always changing.

The only thing that never changes and has never changed is the Word of God. [Isaiah 41:] As the Word became flesh and dwelt amongst us [John 1:1-3] and revealed the truth to us, we can be assured and have full security in the promises foretold so long ago by the prophets, confirmed in the life, death and resurrection of our Lord Yeshua and lived out in countless lives down through the ages. [Matthew 28:20]

God is our security He never lies. [Numbers 23:19] Yeshua is our living security and the Holy Spirit reveals that security to us. Isaiah, Jeremiah and many other prophets warned us about going after false teachings. If we think this is the Old Testament then we need to read 2 Timothy 4:3. Mankind has always tried to take the easy path. From the time of Adam and Eve this has happened and will still be taking place until the Lord Himself is standing on the Mount of Olives. As in the days of Noah they were far from the truth of God, as it was in the days of Jeremiah, they did not or would not listen to the Word of God [Jeremiah 36:31] and as many do not today.

People want the easy path but the path to salvation is not easy, it is full of problems. People may find temporary solutions to these problems but they are just that, temporary and nothing more. They may give peace when there is no real peace but this is just putting a Band-Aid on something that requires a major operation. We need two transplants, one on the mind so that we take on the mind of Christ, [1 Corinthians 2:16] where we take on His thinking, the second is to have a heart transplant, the heart of stone we have towards God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. The heart of stone we have to our own life and future is changed completely. [Ezekiel 36:26] So we not only take on the mind of Christ we also take on His heart for ourselves, and the people around us.

This is where our security lies, in the one who made us in His image [Genesis 1:27] and if we are made in His image surely that is were our security is, in the One who knows all things from the beginning to the end. [1 John 3:20] He is faithful in all things, [2 Timothy 2:13] He never lies and He will never reject us as nothing can separate us from the love of God. [Romans 8:39] If we have a problem in life, if we are living a life style not pleasing to God, remember the song - take it to Him in prayer. How do we know if our lifestyle is not of the Lord? Just read the Word! The Word is, was and will always be, speaking the answers to every insecure moment of our lives. [1 Peter 1:23-25] There is no other teaching under heaven or earth that can give the complete security and peace that loving Yeshua within our hearts can give. [Revelation 5:3] He is life itself He is our every breath, [Genesis 2:7] He is our future [2 Corinthians 1:22] and He is our security [Ephesians 2:1] that can be found in nothing else. [Acts 4:12] We can read all the books, we can surround ourselves with family and we can go to every lecture on the universe but there is nothing in any of these that can give us the security of a future of knowing where our future lies when this time on earth is over; [John 3:15-17] When our names are read from the Book of Life [Revelation 3:5] and we take our place in our Father’s House John 14:2] and we see the Lion of Judah, the only one able to open the final seal [Revelation 5:5] and the wedding of the Lamb takes place. [Revelation 19:6-9] The invitation has been given from the cross all we need to do is reach out and receive the greatest security invitation ever given.  [Romans 10:9-13]

Matthew 6:25-34 “For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? “Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? “And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? “And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. “But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! “Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ “For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. “So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.
