I stand in awe of the Lord
When we look back at our childhood when we looked to the years to come we probably asked ourselves, what would the future hold? The world was such a large place and if we are honest a little scary as well. This did not stop the years from passing and the decisions we had to make for what we would become. If only we knew then what we know now then we may not have made so many mistakes. On the other hand maybe the future is hidden from us so that we will make mistakes and therefore learn from them. Paul wrote that these things bring character and therefore strength. [Romans 5:1-5]
As the years passed we tried many things and some succeeded and some didn’t but we pressed on with life, but the one thing many of us didn’t do in those early years was put our trust in God. We have to ask with Him in our lives, would we have made as many mistakes? Or are mistakes just part of growing up and maturing into the people God wants us to be? One thing I do know is, as the saying goes, if we don’t learn from the past we will repeat the mistakes of the past.
I once called myself a born loser and the things I had achieved were hidden within a gloom I had created. [Psalm 143:3] But as the Hebrews had a veil over their minds [2 Corinthians 3:15] we can have a veil over our hearts preventing the love and power of God to enter into our lives. [Zechariah 7:12] Whatever we put our hand to must be within the hand of God, He directs and guides in all ways and will never leave us. [Psalm 48:14] Throughout my life I have been employed as a soldier, a teacher and as a Pastor and I know that my Lord and Saviour was with me at all times. In the natural I would never have been able to achieve what I have. As a soldier I was promoted ahead of others, as a teacher I reached the highest level and as a Pastor, well I will leave that for the Lord to judge but I know that now I have taken pen to paper I stand in awe of my Lord, more each day. [Habakkuk 3:2]
His promises are new every morning, [Lamentations 3:23] when I wake to the sound of the birds and see the sun rise I know my Lord Lives. He brings us out of the darkness into the glorious light where darkness has no place to dwell. [1 Peter 2:9] Yes we still fear what lies ahead but we need not because He is always leading. When we step out in Him and a new adventure we do worry, it is in our nature to worry, I suppose this is a caution to be steady as she goes, instead of full steam ahead and end up on the rocks. I sit here this morning looking out of my window as the world glides by and know how blessed I am. [Hebrews 10:10] Today there will many troubles for many people, there will be tears shed but also there will be much laughter and joy. We just have to remember whatever lies ahead there is a joyful future to come. We must remember to never let the things of the world get in the way of that future for we don’t know what God has for us just around the corner. [Hebrews 13:15] In the words of a Pastor in Israel, things can change in an instant, and they do.
We must never limit our God because He is without limit. [Isaiah 40:28] He is bigger than the universe and greater than time itself. [Jude 1:25] When I look back through the mirror of time and remember those first small steps I took into the world and as I flew the nest things may have looked bleak. Now I can’t stop praising the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob for His wisdom and guidance. I was finishing my second book last week and the thought came to me of how I got into so much trouble at school for not being able to write even a two page essay. Now with my first book winning a book award and a second one finished I know we can do all things in Yeshua when we are completely surrendered to Him. [Philippians 4:13]
If you are struggling to finish a task or things are just not going right, just stop for a moment and talk to God about it. [Romans 1:9] He hears every struggle and sees all problems and He wants to help but He will not interfere where He is not wanted. I, like all people have been in some deep valleys and the Lord has always reached down to help me up, as He will for you. We may say “I’m a born loser” but He isn’t, He holds the victory over all things and in all places and at all times. [1 John 5:4] The final victory is over death, [1 Corinthians 15:55] which to the world is the final step in this life. However for those in Yeshua it is the very last step we will take and we can take it with joy because Yeshua redeemed us from the path of destruction and placed us on the narrow path to salvation. [Matthew 7:13] It may be a long journey but it will be worth it when we are standing in glory worshipping the One who made it possible to be there.
And I saw between the throne (with the four living creatures)
and the elders a Lamb standing, as if slain, having seven horns and
seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God, sent out into
all the earth. And He came and took the book out of the right hand of
Him who sat on the throne. When He had taken the book, the four
living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb,
each one holding a harp and golden bowls full of incense, which are
the prayers of the saints. And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy
are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain,
and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue
and people and nation. “You have made them to be a kingdom and
priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” [Revelation 5:6-10]
