The Earth will Shake
Earthquakes, storms and flooding are all getting our attention at the moment. Are they just normal events or are they of Biblical prophecy? Like for example, one more time I will shake the earth. [Haggai 2:6] Well many jump to state God's hand in such
events and then many start to pay attention to the events that are taking place which is good as we should be ready for what may lie ahead. However if the return of Yeshua for His Bride is near, why does it take such events to get our attention?
Whether the weather is rough or smooth, God is always there. [Matthew 28:20] He is there through the good and bad times. When these things happen we should be paying the One who can create and quiet storms, a lot more notice than we do. Happy times maybe coming but in the meantime we have to weather the storm and we can only truly do that if we live our lives for Him and in Him and through Him, our Lord and Saviour. [2 Corinthians 13:4]
We attend Church and worship and praise the Lord like there is no tomorrow but what happens when we find out there is? We spend six days in the world before we come before the Lord again and worldly things can then have a bigger influence on us than we realise. [1 Corinthians 1:28] There are friends, events, work and play all pulling us towards the world and away from God and His reality in our lives. [Matthew 7:13] I read a Bible portion daily because I want to know my Lord. I read the Word to know several things like, what is God’s plan for humanity? How is He going to carry out that plan and what part am I required to play in His plan?
Without this knowledge how can I possibly be the child of God [John 8:47] I am meant to be once I am adopted in the family of God? [John 1:12] Am I or any other follower of Yeshua perfect? Of course not or Yeshua would never have died in the way He did and why He did. But one thing I know once saved by grace we are told to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. [Philippians 2:12] I would suggest this means at least we have to try and be good stewards of the Word. God has done His part therefore we need to do our part.
Heaven is an exclusive club, if I dare to put it that way, but anybody can join. This may sound strange but unless we confess Yeshua as Lord, something anybody can do from the richest person to the poorest, we cannot join this club. But once joined and we see the advantages why wouldn't we want everybody to join and also see and experience the wonders of God in their lives? [Job 37:14] Every step we take should be a step further into the life and times of our Lord, because one day we are all going to take a giant leap into His presence so we should be ready for that day when it comes, shouldn't we? [Romans 14:12]
Everyone wants to go to heaven but they don't want to confess Yeshua as Lord. Once there was a high Priest who, once a year, sacrificed an animal so they could enter into the Most Holy Place of the temple. The animals sacrificed could not give permanent forgiveness of sins as these sacrifices had to be carried out year after year. [Hebrew 9:7] This act gave temporary relief from sin so just one man could enter the Holy of Holies. The animals were imperfect; the man was imperfect so the sins of the people were not atoned for. But then came Yeshua, the true Passover Lamb [2 Corinthians 5:7] and perfect in every way. He was the one and only perfect sacrifice. [Hebrews 9:14] Now through the sacrifice of this one man we could now enter not so much the earthly temple but the Heavenly Temple as He shed His perfect blood for us to go beyond this world and into the World to come. [Hebrew 9:13:14]
For this very reason we should try to live lives worthy of this sacrifice, daily, in a way others would also want to have what we have, the saving grace of God and fellowship with the Holy Spirit. [2 Corinthians 13:14] To live our lives as if we are on the path, the narrow path to Heaven. [Isaiah 40:26]
You will be hearing of wars and rumours of wars: see that you are not frightened, for those things will happen but that is not yet the end. For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom in various places there will be famines and earthquakes. But all these things are merely the birth pains. Mark 13:7-8
