Power of the Lord
The nations of the world once more gathered to condemn Israel; people around the world were praying this didn't happen. At the end of the day seventy nations could not come to a common answer as England pulled back and would not sign the final document. Plus Australia also withheld their support for the gathering. So were the prayers of the people answered? With the amount of prayer that went up to the heavenlies and with the meeting ending up like a barrel of wet gunpowder, we have to believe God heard those prayers as nothing came out of the meeting except a free trip to Paris for the delegates.
The God we serve is so mighty and powerful no plans of man can ever out do the power of our Lord. [Psalm 94:11] Especially where His people are concerned, touch His people and we poke God in the eye, [Zechariah 2:8] Poke God in the eye and He will get more than a little upset I am sure. From the beginning when Abraham was sent to the Promised Land until today and everything in between, every attacker of the Jewish people has in the end been defeated and it will be no different in the future. Once the head of satan had been crushed [Genesis 3:15] the plan of God to fully complete His plan for mankind was well under way. [Exodus 6:6]
God’s plans may have looked to have been defeated at times but there is nothing that can defeat the nails that held our Saviour to the cross for six long hours [Mark 15:22-33] as the world looked on and mocked Him. [Mark 15:36] Nothing is ever going to defeat the empty tomb and nothing can roll the stone back into place. The Lord has risen, [Matthew 28:6] He has risen into glory from whence He came and one day He will return to stand on the Mount of Olives to show that He has the victory over all and of all things. [Zechariah 12:4] The Word became flesh and walked and talked among us, [John 1:14] the light of the world [John 8:12] which can never be put out and will shine on forever, [Revelation 21:23] of this I have no doubt.
At this time in history it is no time to doubt in any way the power of the Almighty. [Psalm 68:33-35] Even if there is war and rumours of war, if there are floods and famine [Matthew 24:4-8] His plan will continue. Things happen and some of these things can cause people to stop and think and even turn from the truth but this does not alter the truth and it certainly does not take away any of the words spoken of in God’s Word. [Revelation 1:2] We all have that moment of why God? But I am sure God has had many more of those moments when He has said to us, “Why have you done such things especially to My people whom I chose? Why have you done such things when I have clearly shown you My ever lasting power and the promise of the cross? [1 Corinthians 1:18]
Nothing of what can happen to us can match the day they took Yeshua, the Son of Man, Messiah, the wonderful councillor [Isaiah 9:6] and nailed Him to a Tree. The one who came to save us from ourselves? [Luke 4:18] They took Him and beat and mocked and dragged Him through the streets of Jerusalem. [Matthew 27:27-30] When Pilate asked what is truth, [John 18:38] he was about to find out, the world was about to find out, the truth is Yeshua Himself [John 14:6] and the fact that nothing can hold Him back from the plan that one day He will complete, as laid out in the Book of Revelation.
Satan may wander from nation to nation looking for victims as a roaring lion, [1 Peter 5:8] he may make people run after things that sound good to the ears [2 Timothy 4:4] but none of this will ever alter the truth of His word. [Psalm 33:4] It is this Gospel, the Gospel of truth and the Good News that God’s word is the truth and nothing can change that. We are saved by grace [Ephesians 2:8] but we live by faith, [2 Corinthians 5:7] faith in the Word that will last forever. [Isaiah 40:8] Crowds may gather to hear another gospel [2 Corinthians 11:4] but there is only one Gospel that will bring us to our knees and that is the one that is calling us to repentance. [Revelation 2:5] The Gospel meaning Good News was shown by the One who hung on a cross and it was punctuated with the Words, “Forgive them Father for they know not what they do.” [Luke 23:34] They may have had to ask Pilate if they could remove Yeshua from the cross [Mark 15:43] but nobody had to ask to have the stone removed to reveal an empty tomb. This was a gift of God to show the meaning of His grace to all and that in Yeshua we can also conquer the last sting, which is death. [1 Corinthians 15:55]
The nails may have left the scars on our Lord but it is those scars that remove all scars from our lives. As the world gathers, as they do in a building in New York, to condemn God’s people nothing can defeat the truth of His word or the empty tomb. Nothing can take away the promise of the empty tomb no matter how hard they try as they declare war on the Word of God. Satan may wander as a marauding lion looking for people to devour but we must remember that with every blow of the Roman hammer upon those nails, another tooth was extracted from that lion and now the evil one is toothless and will remain so for all time. [1 Peter 5:8]
Israel, the apple of Gods eye, is watched over day and night. [Palm 121:8] It may not seem so at times but all who have gone up against this land and its people have failed and will do so into the future. The cry of the Psalmist, “How long Lord how long will our enemies prevail?” still rings true today. [Psalm 74:10] We may cry the same cry and wonder how long Lord, but the end will come and when it does the Lord will separate the weeds from the good crop. [Matthew 13:28]
As the nations gather against Jerusalem let us remember, the name of the Lord is a strong tower and the righteous run into it and they are saved. [Proverbs 18:10] As the rock of the ages cannot be shaken [Psalm 62:6] neither can the Land of Israel [Amos 9:14-15] and neither can our faith in the truth of His Word because nothing can separate us from the love of God. [Romans 8:38-39] We just have to remember that the Light that came into the world can never be blocked by darkness [John 1:4-5] as the light removes all darkness. Therefore the light of Yeshua in our lives remains no matter how dark the world may appear and so if we continually look into, work and live in that light we will overcome all things through prayer and the love that was shown on the cross for all the world to see. [John 3:16-17]
So let us pray: Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’] Matthew 6:9-13
