Follow the Lord no matter what.

Follow the Lord no matter what.

The question asked by the Pastor the other day was, - How far are we prepared to go for the Lord? This is a fair question in today’s society when the pressures of the world are increasing by the day. Christianity is being signaled out more and more because of the exclusive message the Gospel brings to the world. There is only one heaven, not heavens, [Luke 15:7] and there is only one path to it [Matthew 7:13-14] and there is only one Lord calling us home. [James 2:19] There are many paths we can take in society but only one that has the ending that God wants for us all, a relationship with Him. [Deuteronomy 6:5]

If we want to see how exclusive His message is we can just look to the heavens. [Psalm 96:5] They claim there are countless planets out there somewhere but whenever they discover another one, there is always something wrong to why it can’t support life like our little planet, A little speck in space that has everything right, the right distance from the sun, the right rotational speed and the right amount of water to support life. How special is this planet in God’s eyes? To answer that question I would suggest you go to Google and Google it, a little blue dot in a sunbeam. This is a photo taken by Voyager 1 as it left the Solar System. Think on this as you view this picture, why is there not a glow from the Sun but just a beam of light shining on that little blue spot?

To me this is a picture of the hand of God on this planet as it journeys through space. This is the same hand that is on each of us trying to guide us into His Kingdom.  Psalm 119:105] This the same hand a senior General of the Israeli army saw in the sky over the Golan holding back the enemy in the Six Day war. It is the same hand that was nailed to a cross to bring salvation to the world. [John 20:25] Why do we ever doubt the power of our God? [Psalm 65:6-9] this awesome God who created that little blue dot in the sunbeam that is our home in God’s mighty universe? God speaks to His people ‘Shama’ which in Hebrew is listen, then act on what you have heard. I believe the Lord is not only calling Shama Israel but also Shama the world to hear and act on His Word. [Jeremiah 42:5]

It is fifty years since the state of Israel finally received back the City of the Great King from the Gentiles, [Luke 21:24] and what a fifty years it has been for both Israel and the world. Thirty-Three countries voted in 1947 to return the Jewish nation to the Jewish people. But it took another twenty years before they could walk in triumph and once more pray freely at the Western Wall. God did a great miracle as it was restored to His people in just six days, from the state of Jordan.

God’s hand lies over all the earth moving back and forth searching for people who will follow Him both in good times and the bad. Isaiah said: “Here I am send me Lord”. [Isaiah 6:8] From the time of the Disciples, people have been called to serve, whether it is on the front line or giving support to those who go, God is still calling us today. He is calling people into His exclusive fold. [Matthew 11:28]

Time is short for us all, we are like grass, here today gone tomorrow [Psalm 90:3-6] and God is calling because of what happens after our tomorrow, it is our choice. Is my arm too short to save? [Isaiah 59:1] asked God and then showed it was not. Every time we open a newspaper today there is an attack on people who have come to realise the saving grace of our Lord Yeshua. It may be an attack in Egypt or Syria or it may be a government somewhere taking down the Ten Commandments or removing the Lord from our classrooms. Many professors around the world are trying to shape the minds of our future leaders against Christianity. Our future leaders are being taught there is no God and to say there is to be a bigot and who wants to be called this.

However we must remember names are not going to destroy what Yeshua did for us on the cross. There are two sayings from the past, everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die. And people want to go to heaven but they don’t want anything to do with the cross of Yeshua. There are many religions out there and all of them rely on their own strength and or actions to get into their heaven.  There is but one exclusive teaching and it is this; we are saved by grace through faith, [Ephesians 2:4-5] I am the way the truth and the life and nobody comes to the Father but by me, [John 14:6] If you confess Yeshua is Lord you will be saved, [Romans 10:9] by no other name can we be saved. [Acts 4:12] Because He is the One born of woman [Isaiah 7:14] and His name will be wonderful councillor, prince of peace, almighty God, God is with us. [Isaiah 9:6] He would go like a lamb to the slaughter, He would be bruised for our iniquities and by His stripes we would be healed. [Isaiah 53] This is the One who would heal the broken hearted and bring good news to the poor, liberty to the captives, sight for the blind and set free the oppressed. [Isaiah 61:1] These are all physical problems but they are also a spiritual captivity, problems that destroy the physical and the spiritual.

Is it any wonder the evil of the world is out to destroy the followers of this exclusive way? But the Good News is anybody can join this way and be saved, the really Good News is there is no exclusiveness to who can join. Therefore the answer to the original question should be, as far as the Lord wants to take me regardless of the cost. Because no matter what, He is still Lord as He was yesterday, today and tomorrow. [Hebrews 13:8] As we await the day when -

And they sang a new song, saying, "Worthy are You to take the book and to break its seals; for You were slain, and purchased for God with Your blood men from every tribe and tongue and people and nation. “You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God; and they will reign upon the earth.” Revelation 5:9-10
