Signs of the Times

Signs of the Times

A hundred years ago this year the Lord did something that going by the news the world can’t forgive. There was a war and Turkey just some how happened to be part of it. Of course at the time Turkey also controlled Israel. This meant of course they were open to attack from the Allied forces and when that attack came they lost and they lost control of the Holy Land. This was the same year that the Balfour declaration was approved and signed, the beginning of the re-establishment of Israel.

Standing at the Museum in Beersheva looking out at the battlefield where the Anzacs fought and died, it is hard to imagine in one hundred short years so much has happened in that land. A Messianic Pastor once said, all may just seem to be moving along slowly and then in an instant it all changes, and it sure has. The Turks controlled this land for four hundred years and then in a few short years it was gone. Then the British were given the task of getting the land ready for the Jewish people but the evil of the world still had one last trick up his sleeve. The British needed Arab help with the war and as a reward the Balfour declaration, which was confirmed by the San Remo conference in 1922, was ignored. What the British called Palestine, now Jordan and Israel, was divided up taking seventy seven percent of the Land and giving it to the Arabs as their reward for helping the British.

Over the years there were several proposals to divide up what was left. The world was trying to stop the plans of God and I will go as far as to say, the return of the Messiah. History is just repeating itself as in the time of Nehemiah and Ezra, there has been much opposition to Israel being the Land it is today.  [Isaiah 51:3] Finally the UN vote of 1947 said there should be a State of Israel for the Jewish people. Ever since that day there has been much resistance to the state of Israel and in many forms. Terrorism in its many forms, wars as in 1956 and then the Six Day War and the disastrous Yom Kippur War. But like in the time of the Greeks, Romans and many more those wars failed to destroy the plans of God.  First there was the coming of the Messiah to give salvation to the world and now His mighty and everlasting return.

The war against Israel is still going on and even getting hotter in the form of protests and de-legitimization of the Jewish people and their right to the land. Which really had its start in Khartoum when the Arabs decreed, No Peace No Negotiations No Israel. A cry that has been shouted from the rooftops, such as from the river to the sea a cry to destroy Israel has gone throughout the world today, a cry that is being spread worldwide with the spread of Islam. I have heard that cry in our city, and I have heard it in every broadcast of worldwide riots against Israel and it is getting louder. Sadly even in the Churches the cry for the destruction of Israel is heard.

The main reason I believe this has taken over many churches is the replacement of the gospel of salvation with the social gospel, which is no gospel at all. [Galatians 1:6-7] All work of the Church has to be based totally on the Gospel of Salvation or we have lost sight of the Great Commission. [Matthew 28:16-20] Jesus said if you accept me you accept the One who sent me [Mark 10:40] which stands to reason, if we deny Yeshua we also deny the Father. There are many ways to do this and one of them is to deny God’s Word. [Joshua 24:27] And if we do this we are in danger of turning the Jewish people away from the truth, as we are no longer provoking them to jealousy [Romans 11:11] rather we are turning them from their Messiah. The social gospel has taken such a hold we seem to have forgotten why Yeshua died on the cross and who He actually is. [Philippians 3:20] He is the Son of Man, [Matthew 24:30] He is also the wonderful councillor and almighty God [Isaiah 9:6-7] and King of the Jews. [Matthew 27:29] The very one returning for His Bride, [Revelation 19:7] yes the One satan is trying everything in his power to stop from coming through deception. [Revelation 12:9] The truth of Yeshua is the very reason there are so many attacks on the Jewish people and the attempts to prevent them from controlling Jerusalem. The cries go out, “it must be an international city” controlled by the church. It must be international so all the faiths can go and pray there. The worship by the big three, Judaism Christianity and Islam is actually occurring as we speak in Jerusalem and has only done so since Israel won back the Old City in the Six Day War from Jordan, this never occurred under the Muslim Turks or the Muslim Jordanians. But to listen to some Christians on this matter you who think different, even the latest Pope has called for the city to be under their control.

Every day there is something else in the news criticizing Israel while human abuses go unchecked in many countries. Christians are dying in the thousands at the hands of Muslims but little is said. We have forgotten the Lord is returning and one of the greatest signs of this is that the State of Israel not only exists it is continually under attack and so are the people of the Book, the Bible, both Jew and Gentile. Yeshua said we would suffer because of Him [Mark 13:13] and this is happening in the world today. Rules and laws are being passed in every school institution all around the world; the name of Yeshua is not to be spoken. The Ten Commandments are being attacked in our Parliaments with the anti-social laws that are being passed and if we tell people Yeshua is the only way we could be taken to court.

As I said last week Yeshua is returning and asking the question, what will He find when He does. Will He find people on fire for Him or people who have gone to sleep waiting? [Matthew 25:1-5] Will the commands He put in place for the good of society be still there or will they have been replaced with rules that allows anything to go? [Jude 1:10]

Just two days ago I was told to wake up it is 2017 and things change. This may be so within society but the Good News is, God’s Word never does change. [1 Peter 1:23-25] This is where our security lies in knowing God never changes. [Numbers 23:19] His promises to Israel are just as relevant to day as when they were first written and in this we can rejoice. We worked with Christians in Bethlehem who saw the Jewish people as nothing but enemies of the people. Such scriptures as, we are the ones grafted in [Romans 11:24] and if we have enjoyed their spiritual blessings then we have to help them with physical [Romans 15:27] and of course many more, were just ignored.

Of course it is easy to side with the majority and stand and do nothing but if we do are we not in danger of once more worshipping the golden calf? [Exodus 32:4] The spirit of Haman, in the time of Esther, is very much alive today; it is broadcast to the world. It has been given free reign to hate and destroy the Jewish people and the Land God gave to Avraham and confirmed through Isaac and Jacob [Psalm 105:9-10] so long ago. Now we either accept what the Word of God tells us or we don’t as we have a free choice. Having lived in Israel and travelled widely in the land then I know what I believe and for me the Word of God was true in prophecy and still is today. God is getting His land ready for the most amazing event that will ever be seen in modern times and that is the return of the Lord. [Zechariah 14:4] When you hear of wars and rumours of wars, see famines and many other things then you will know the end is near. [Matthew 24:6] It is time to turn the news off and the Bible on and then we will be ready for His coming. All that has happened in History regarding Israel has just been a prelude to the main event, His return, the coming of the Great King. Come Lord Yeshua come.

In that day there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. 7For it will be a unique day, which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light. And in that day living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter. God Will Be King over All. And the LORD will be king over all the earth; in that day the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.  Zechariah 14:8-9
