The Lord’s direction

The Lord’s direction

There is a book entitled, ‘Why I am Disappointed with God’, but surely the question should be, have we disappointed God? He has taught us, promised us salvation and produced that salvation after much heartache and forgiveness. [Luke 23:23] Why in all the world should we or could we be disappointed with God when we are the ones who have disappointed Him in our actions and words.

God said, “Keep awake, pay attention [Matthew 24:43] and follow Me.” [Matthew 16:24] Then He came in the flesh [John 1:1] and again spoke to the people and still many would not listen. [Psalm 81:11] They nailed Him to a cross, He died was buried and rose from the dead [1 Corinthians 15:4] and still people deny the truth of the Gospel. As Paul said, they exchanged the truth for a lie and followed the created instead of the Creator. [Romans 1:25] People down through the ages have run after things that sound good to the ears, [2 Timothy 4:3] yes the Pale horse of deception is still alive and well.

Just on Sunday a man told me he was not interested in Jewish things. So where does he get this from? I will be bold enough to say the church. I wanted to ask, have you never read the Bible a Jewish Book? Or, does he not follow Yeshua, the very Jewish Messiah? There are many things from the world that we are allowing into the church that show we are heading further from the Word instead of closer to it.

One of the biggest teachings is that we don't have to repent now that Yeshua has died for our sins. Scripture does not back this but it is promoted throughout the Christian world and by TV Pastors. When I pointed out the problems with this teaching to a friend I was told Paul never told people to repent. Again this could not be further from the truth. One TV Evangelist said and I quote, "If someone is telling you that you have sinned it is not the Holy Spirit, but the devil." Is this not blaspheming the Holy Spirit? [Matthew 12:32] and yet this man has a following of thousands because it sounds good.

After His introduction of Himself, in chapter one, Yeshua made it very clear to the churches what was required of them before they could continue within the Revelation He was about to give them. In John 3:3 Yeshua said we have to be Born Again before we can see the Kingdom of God. But at this time He did not lay out what born again fully meant, now I believe He was about to do so. He did say “Love the Lord your God and love your neighbour” as a starting point but what else was required? The Lord speaks to seven Churches laying down how they are to act as followers of the Word and followers of the Messiah.

The first church He spoke to had lost their first love, they had fallen asleep and obviously were just going through the motions. With time short we have to wake up to the Gospel message and live it, show it, and provoke others to do the same. [[]] Yeshua said repent and do the first works, in other words pick up the cross you have dropped and continue your walk with Me to the end, for those who overcome He will give the right to the Tree of Life and we can do this by Listening to the Spirit of God. [Revelation 2:1-7]

Then He spoke to the persecuted and those in poverty, He warned them what was to come after reminding them who He was. They would have to go through a tribulation but not to worry as they would get a great reward, a crown of life and will not be hurt by the second death if they stood firm on the Word. We all go through troubles and from these troubles we can grow in the Lord and know Him personally in a much deeper way. The crown of life is worth fighting for and God will give the strength to do so, so we can all, no matter what, strive for the crown of life. [Revelation 2:8-11]

Next was the compromising church, the church that has accepted interfaith. It is a church that has claimed Yeshua but follows those teachings that sound good. They have gone against the Word, they have gone their own way and also committed sexual sin. A message given so long ago and yet is as important of a warning to the human being today as it was then. We have turned to the creation instead of the Creator for our identification with many even in the church now happy to go along with the world in many areas such as abortion and or a gay life style. But Yeshua said repent or I will come to you with the two-edge sword. He who has an ear hear what the Spirit is saying and I will give a new name a name, which I am sure would be written in the Book of Life, but we have to listen and act. [Revelation 2:12-17]

Then He speaks of the corruption within the church, they may look great on the outside but inside they have the false prophets of the Word leading people astray with their nice sounding words. The Lord is telling us to repent of many things including sexual immorality by many church leaders a thing that has destroyed many faith walks of people attending those churches. The Lord warns us these people will be destroyed; He will give according to our actions. However those who overcome and keep His Word and the works of the Lord will be given great power and an even greater reward. [Revelation 2:18-29]

Then the church that starts off well and then dies loses its first love and the people are going through the motions, they have a form of worship but their hearts are far from the Lord. In the words of a Pastor I knew, they get established and become a club and not proclaimers of the Gospel. If we become dead in our faith and unless we repent from this we could miss the Lords coming. We must always be ready for the coming of the Lord and going through the motions is not being ready for what is to come and the great reward for those who are. [Revelation 3:1-6]

Within the directions of these chapters the Lord speaks of only one church in seven that is faithful to the Lord and His message. Is this the same today with all that is going on, with compromise, corruption, interfaith and do as you like as grace covers your sins? The people of this church were to be kept from the hour of trouble because of their faithfulness, they were to become pillars within the Temple and have the name of God written upon them as they were over comers of all things as they had stayed true to the Word. [Revelation 3:7-13]

The last church mentioned is the lukewarm church, neither hot nor cold, just attending and nothing more. They said they were rich and in need of nothing but did not know what they were missing out on. They needed the refining fire as we do, to bring them back they needed healing to be zealous for the Lord as we should be and repent, as we should. [Revelation 3:14-19]

Repentance is the theme of this part of the Book of Revelation, Every church is told to repent, something taught against today. Repentance before the Lord, something we should never ignore as we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. [Romans 3:23] How do we learn what to do, listen and hear what the spirit of God is telling us? [John 16:13] The Lord said for those who obey and follow Him truly there are great rewards, a crown and their name in the book of life and to be a Pillar in God’s temple. We need to take notice of these first three chapters and then act on them and then we may be ready to have some understanding for the rest of the message as Born Again Believers. Awake with our ear to hear the message to what the Holy Spirit is saying. As we are reminded unless you are born again you can never see the Kingdom of God. [John 3:3] Remembering this message is open to all who open the door to the Lord’s call. [Revelation 3:19-22]

Yeshua explained who He was in the first chapter and then explained how we should be in the next two, [1 Corinthians 2:16] before giving the Disciple John the main message so he knew the truth behind the message he was about to receive. The Revelation of what had happened, what was happening and what will happen so we can be ready for the end when it comes.

So remember what you have received and heard; and keep it, and repent. Therefore if you do not wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what hour I will come to you. ‘But you have a few people in Sardis who have not soiled their garments; and they will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy. ‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. ‘He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Revelation 3:3-6
