The Final Trumpet
Who is worthy to open the scrolls? It is the Lion of Judah the One who was slain and rose from the dead. [Revelation 5:5] He has purchased people from every tribe and nation, language and people. [Revelation 5:9] From the poorest to the richest from the weakest to the strongest and He has taken all trouble upon Himself to set us free to see His beauty and power. It is not Him that is blocking our minds from releasing all to Him, it’s ourselves. He may have come as the suffering servant and sadly we continue to look upon Him in this way. The problem with this is we are relating to weakness and suffering and in many cases can't see past our troubles to see the real Yeshua.
We read the First Testament and see the prophecies of the coming Messiah and how He will set the captives free. [Isaiah 61:1] We read the scriptures of His suffering and maybe relate to His pain [Isaiah 53] with what we are going through and in doing so we miss the real Yeshua of today. He was born into a manger as a helpless baby, He grew into a small boy who Herod tried to kill [Matthew 2:16] and was used and abused and finally they nailed Him to the cross. [John 19:17] In this we celebrate year after year His weakness, His birth and His death. But what about who He is now?
The writer of Psalm 35:23 said, “My Saviour and my God,” in John 20:28, Thomas said my “Lord and my God”. Does this sound like someone who is weak or more like the One who created the heavens and the earth [Isaiah 37:16] and is all-powerful and all knowing? [1 John 3:20] They have taken Yeshua and used and abused Him but He is now the Wonderful councillor, Mighty God, Prince of peace, ever lasting Father. [Isaiah 9:6-7] He is no longer a helpless babe but the Almighty conquering King and it as this King He will return. [Revelation 19:15-16]
Yeshua is our Lord and Saviour who will one day return to take up His golden crown and reign from Jerusalem. He is the one who holds all things together [Colossians 1:17] and will reign forever. [Revelation 22:5] Yeshua, the One who has the power to heal, to save and many more things, He is the power that is there for us to plug into. Yeshua said we would do greater things [John 14:12] but in many cases we fail to plug into that power. It is like having an electrical appliance that we don't plug into the power source, it becomes a waste of time to have. The power of God is waiting for us to plug into it and when we do we can forget our troubles and hand them over to Him.
“Come to me all who are heavy laden”, [Matthew 11:28] is not a request but a command, He wants us to be ready for His return, [Mark 13:35] Revelation 1 describes who He is, the first and the last the suffering servant but then the conquering King. In Revelation chapters one and two explains how we are to act and not act as followers of the Messiah. We are made in the image of God and it is in this image that we can act and it is in this image we are awaiting for His return. It is time to start to live what we will experience when called home, not only a life of victory but also a life showing that victory. [1 John 5:4] When the Lord comes and we are changed in the blink of an eye, it will be too late to change. The victory was won when they found the empty tomb and we need to live within that victory which is our future and not keep looking to what has happened but to what will be. [Revelation 21:21]
When the Lord comes in the clouds and with the mighty trumpet blast and gathers His people [1 Corinthians 15:52] from the four winds to Himself, he will not be looking for those who are living in the past but those who have their lamps trimmed and waiting and ready for the final journey. [Matthew 25:1] When the Lord is standing on the Mount of Olives looking over His Kingdom [Zechariah 14:4] and the river of life is flowing to the east and west it will bring life [Ezekiel 47:9] to all it touches and our names will be written in the Book of Life. [Revelation 20:12] We will only be ready if we look forward not back. Yeshua said those who put their hand to the plough and then look back are not fit for the Kingdom of God. [Luke 9:62] This is not just working for Him but committing one’s life to Him. We need to stop looking in the rear vision mirror, which has very limited viewing, and keep our eyes on the narrow road [Matthew 7:14] ahead and not turn to the left or the right. [Deuteronomy 5:32]
The Lord planted in us His seed, we can either expose it to the Light of the World [John 8:12] and see growth or we can keep it hidden in the darkness of the past. We can water the seed with the water of life [John 7:38] or we can leave it dry and thirsty, it is our choice but once we put our hand to the plough then there is no going back, you cannot plow backwards. I believe the book of Revelations events started after the Lord was resurrected, it was told to John who recognised his Lord. It is the story of History in the Messianic age, the time of the Messiah.
The Orthodox Jewish people have divided up history in the following way. The first two thousand years, Adam to Abraham, the age of desolation the next two thousand years from Abraham to the expected arrival of the Messiah is known as the age of Torah. The final two thousand years the days of Messiah. And so this has been fulfilled, as we know in Yeshua. The next thousand years are known as the coming age sounds a lot like the Lord is coming twice and He is. All this adds up to the redemption for all Mankind.
We are about to enter what the people of Israel call the High Holidays starting with the Feast of Trumpets [Leviticus 23:23-24] which is the final part of the plan. Passover - salvation given, Pentecost (Shavuot) salvation understood and finally Tabernacles, salvation received. The final section of feasts, start with the Feast of Trumpets, the only Feast of the Lord where the people were commanded to blow the trumpets. Then comes the Feast of Atonement [Leviticus 23:26-28] followed by the Feast of Tabernacles and the dance of the Groom. [Leviticus 23:34] Did not Yeshua say He would come on a great trumpet blast? [Matthew 24:31] Paul stated we would change at the last trumpet [1 Corinthians 15:52] and we would be gathered up on a great trumpet blast. [I Thessalonians 4:16 ] The Lord had the trumpet blown as a warning call of what was about to happen at the beginning of the Book of Revelation warning the churches of what was about to happen. [Revelation 1:10]
The Almighty God is going to return not as a sleeping baby or nailed to a cross but as a Mighty Warrior with a double edge sword cutting to the truth in all things. [Revelation 19:11-16] He will gather the believers of the world to Himself, the question remains do we have our lamps trimmed? Are we keeping watch for what is to come with our hearts and minds looking forward to the glory that is to come?
“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. Revelation 22:12-14
