Love in Action

Shalom from Texas, yes he sure gets around. I am visiting my nephew Craig and his lovely family in San Antonio before heading home on Sunday evening US Time. Please pray for a safe and pleasant trip as the flight is close to fifteen hours. Had a great meeting with our friend Frank who lives in Austin who drove over to where I am staying.

Love and blessings to all

Love in Action

When we are reaching out to people with the Gospel we have to be careful that our words match our actions. Words are nothing if our actions do not reflect those words. James 2:18 The night I met my Penny in that crowded dance hall, I fell in love with her at the first touch of her hand. She on the other hand saw a very skinny man who was not her type but he could dance and was taller than her so there was at least one positive for me. I did not see her for a week and when I did she was sick, in fact very sick, I showed her concern and love and our relationship started to grew from there.

I then rang her every morning at seven o'clock as she was waking to go to work. I did this because I felt it was not good that she would wake to a lonely flat. With the concern I showed her, soon filled the gaps in the words I used, to express how I felt about her. You see I said many times how much I loved her but words by themselves are nothing if not backed up by actions. And in a way in was the actions that won her over then and continues to win her over forty very happy years later.

You see it is like that with the Lord God, throughout the Old Testament time and again the Lord told his people how much He loved them. There were the actions through Moses to back up the words, like He rescued them from the Egyptians, - Exodus 3:5 - He supplied their food and water - Exodus 15:25 - and their shoes never wore out. Deuteronomy 29:5 And yet the people still turned from the Lord when Moses was delayed in coming down the Mountain. Exodus 32:7-10 So the Lord spoke through the Prophets such as Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel and Haggai of His love for the people. But again they did not respond leaving the Lord only one option and was to stand before the people and show His love in action, not just words.

And the Word was with God - John 1:1-3 - and the word became flesh and walked among them - John 1:14 - and at last the people started to see the truth of the word. As all they had been taught now stood among them, the way the truth and the life, - John 14:6 - yes the life to come. But still many did not respond so there was only one thing left to do.  It was going to take the greatest act of love on the part of the Lord to not only get the attention of the people of Israel but of the whole world. It was time for the real action to get our attention to show His Love. John 3:15-17 He did not want us to wake daily in a cold and lonely world, it was time to act to bring the light to the earth for all. John 8:12 The Lord had spoken it was now time for the action an action like the world had never seen before and never will again. Romans 5:8 Like with my Penny when one day she got very upset, I just put my arms around her and she new that my love for her was what I said it was, unconditional. The Lord had to put His arms around the world and said I will never leave you or forsake you, - Deuteronomy 31:6 - my love for you knows no bounds. Psalm 136:2

The Lord had given the people His written word through the Prophets but now He was speaking to them in person. The people asked, where did He get such wisdom from
Solomon may have had the wisdom of the Lord, but now that that wisdom stood in front of them, -  Luke 4:22 - spoke with them and ate with them and cried over them. Luke 19:41 And His arms reached out to them, - Isaiah 50:2 - as they are still reaching out to us today with love and tears. God spoke and then He acted with such love when He became flesh and dwelt amongst us that He allowed Himself to be dragged through the streets and flogged, an act that said this is how much I love you. He allowed Himself to be nailed to a tree under a curse - Deuteronomy 21:22 - saying my love is willing to go through even the greatest of pain for you to be saved.  Luke 22:42which resulted in the only path by which we can be saved. Acts 4:12

The words were spoken and some responded due to that action, countless people down through the ages have stood on the truth of His word and have even died rather than give up on that truth. Matthew 16:24 This is true love, love in action, a love that goes beyond words and gives all for the pearl of great price, - Matthew 13:45-46 - you and me. God loves us with a love that nothing in this world can separate us from Him because of the love He showed on the cross. Romans 8:37-39 His words matched His actions so in this we can have no doubt of His love and motives behind that love. Exodus 33::11 There are many rooms in His house - John 14:2 - and He wants us to fill those rooms and be with Him for all eternity. When the Messiah comes for His Bride, I am sure He doesn't want to see any vacant rooms. He has done His part and taken our sins upon Himself, - 1 Peter 2:26 - now it is our turn to reach out in that love to the Lord and to take that Love to all we meet so they too can be part of the Kingdom that is to come so all the rooms will each have a sign on the door, no vacancies.

As the Father has loved Me I have also have loved you; abide in my love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you, that My joy will remain in you and that your joy will may be full. This is My commandment that you love one another as I have loved you. John 15:9-12
