As in the Days of Noah

As in the Days of Noah

As in the days of Noah people will forget about God and concentrate on the things of the world.  The ten virgins were waiting for the coming of the Lord but only five were ready and went in to be with the Lord while the others were locked out. Tough words spoken by our Lord but recently I have been to farewell two friends. At one service the Lord's Prayer was read out, at the other not a word about the Lord or salvation. We are here for but a moment in time and that moment in time is just that, a mere moment. [Job 14:1-2] So while we are here we need to think seriously about what comes next, [Matthew 25:1-12] we know the world existed before we were born and will exist long after we are gone from this earth. [Psalm 48:14]

The question is where will we spend the time to come? It is obvious from scripture there is a time to come and from things that happen in our lives that there is something more that is far greater than you or I. I for one have testimony after testimony of the super natural powers of our Lord and I would like to share my experiences with the Lord with all. [Job 9:10] The reason is not mine but the Lord’s as He wants all to be saved, for all to call on His name and to follow when He calls and walk in His footsteps. We need His words in our hearts and His love on our faces for all to see, we need to be fully committed to the call of God and His testimony. [1 John 5:9]

There is a time to be born and a time to die and this is very true and then there is the life in between these two very major events in our lives. There are very major decisions to be made as we travel through this life, like job, families, where we will take a holiday or which new car to buy. But there are millions of people on this earth that do not have any of these to make a decision on, they live from day to day with no other purpose in their lives other than to live until tomorrow. In all of this many turn to false gods like rivers or statues or even the universe. All this may seem a simple way to get solace in their lives but where will it end? Rivers dry up and statues rot away and have to be replaced and one day even the heavens and the earth will pass away. [Psalm 135:16]

However there is One who will never pass away, He came to show how real He is and that there is more to life than the people searched for in the time of Noah and continues up to today and will continue until the Lords return. We look for something in times of trouble but don't know where to look. [Isaiah 56:11]

Sometimes it's in a bottle and sometimes its just trying to ignore the problem and just hope it will go away but each morning when we wake the problem is no less. When the slaves were being taken to the ships in Benin they cried out for help from the people around them but nobody responded so they turned to witchcraft. Nobody taught them about the Lord and how precious they were in the sight of God and how He loved them and many died not knowing the truth. But as slaves they heard the Gospel and in death they learnt there could be life. Most went through hell in what they experienced and God raised up people to rescue them as He did the Israelites when Moses was called by God to bring them out of slavery and into freedom. [John 8:12]

It is time for that truth to be revealed to all and shouted from the rooftops for all to hear. The truth that one like Moses has come forth to rescue the whole world from our slavery to many things and People, and His name is “The bright morning star, the Prince of peace, the Bread of life and the one who quenches our thirst for the things of this world to ready us for the next. In the Book of Ecclesiastes it does say there is a time to search out, a time to search out the truth and the only place truth can be found is to ask the truth giver. “Many false prophets will come in my name,” said the Lord and many would be deceived. [Luke 21:8] It is easier to believe a lie than the truth because to believe a lie requires little commitment whereas to follow the truth is sometimes difficult and lonely. But in the end it brings light and life eternal whereas the darkness blinds people to the truth. But the Light brought life, the Light spoke and caused all the people of the great city of Nineveh to repent and turn to God. [Job 4:11]

So many people try to find salvation with their own efforts, by praying five times a day or washing in a river or even hanging flags around a building. Some people even create their own gods or even have sacred animals to worship but in the end there is no assurance or promise to be had in any of these things. All of these things rely on one with and one thing only to obtain salvation and that is self, what the person can do. [2 Timothy 1:9]

But the Good News is we don’t have to do anything as it has been done for us all. The Whole world is like the City of Nineveh and like Nineveh we need to repent and repent soon of our wicked thoughts and our ways and then like the City of Nineveh there will be life, new life, a life of joy and of wonder. [Ephesians 2:5]

Let the days of Noah be an event in history but may we learn from it for the future. Let us come before our Lord and live the life He died for, let us live the life he suffered for, so we can not only have a birth and a passing but a glorious life in between these two events. A life in the presence Lord and enjoy for all eternity being in His presence of the One who was born of woman lived a life to glory of the Father [John 12:28] died for our sins and rose to show the glory of the promises given in His word. Because we also know there is a time for eternity, which starts here and now and it is our decision to which path we will take.

"If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD." Joshua 24:15
